Hearing aids keep hard-of-hearing people independent
People with untreated hearing loss are at a higher risk of being dependent on help from other persons in their daily life. That is the stark warning of a new study on hearing loss, presented to European Union (EU) lawmakers in Brussels, Belgium, on March 6, 2018.
More than 466 million people worldwide live with disabling hearing loss, according to the World Health Organization. But only around one in three people living in the EU, for example, who could benefit from hearing aids decide to wear them. And the number of people with hearing loss will increase, not only because we are living longer than previous generations but also because many of us are exposed to noise in our daily lives. Untreated hearing loss is a burden on health costs related to hearing loss itself as well as associated medical conditions such as depression and cognitive decline.
Same chance of staying independent as people with normal hearing
In her co-authored study published in the Journal of Gerontology: Medical Sciences, Neuropsychologist and Epidemiologist Professor Hélène Amieva finds that people with hearing loss who use hearing aids have the same chance of staying independent as people with normal hearing. The study is based on data from 3,777 individuals aged 65 and older who were followed over a 25-year period.*
These findings confirm what we as Hearing Care Professionals and Audiologists tell our clients whenever we can: By wearing hearing aids, they improve their health and increase their quality of life. Signia is particularly committed to help you to convert the majority of people with hearing loss who do not currently wear hearing aids and help them maintain their independence.
New Signia hearing aids strengthen wearers’ spontaneous acceptance
Our latest hearing aid platform Signia Nx with Own Voice Processing (OVP™) provides the most natural sounding own voice for highest acceptance. In fact, our unique OVP improves spontaneous acceptance of own voice by 80% of dissatisfied wearers.**
Moreover, at the beginning of March 2018 we launched our newest hearing aid, Pure Charge&Go Nx, combining this natural own voice with convenient wireless rechargeability. This state-of-the-art hearing aid is easy and intuitive to handle because we integrated wireless charging into its design. Wearers no longer worry that they might struggle to change batteries. They enjoy complete convenience, knowing that the hearing aids charge as they should every time. Pure Charge&Go Nx also supports top Bluetooth connectivity, allowing wearers to enjoy long-lasting, high-quality stereo streaming of TV audio, music, and phone calls.
